Contributions of Stock

More than ever charitable donations are being made in non-cash forms, such as stock in publicly traded corporations.  Giving in the form of stock is a great way to contribute to a charitable foundation and receive a significant tax deduction.

It is important to note that when giving a gift of stock the official date of the gift is the date the stock is received in the charity’s account.  All gifts must be official by the end of the fiscal year (December 31st) in order to be deducted on that years taxes.  Be sure to allow ample time for end-of-year gifts of stock to go through.
